Founded in 2004, Mediavine was created by content creators for content creators. Providing full-service ad management with world-class services including cutting-edge ad technology, modern publishing tools and educational resources, Mediavine is there to help its community of ±7,700 independent publishers build sustainable businesses every step of the way.
Why are you passionate about anti-racism & equity? (or why is your business committed to it?)
Mediavine’s commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion has always been at the forefront of our efforts in talent acquisition and employee development. However, our company’s structural changes in combating racism were amplified following the tragic events that occured in Spring 2020. We realized we needed to vocalize where we stood with anti-racism and equity to our team members, publishers and community members of color to ensure that we were there to support them no matter what.
What’s one thing you’d like to see in your industry when it comes to equity?
Mediavine would like to see wider representation of self-identifying females, people of color and LGTBQIA+ in the advertising industry. Statistically speaking, people who resonate with these identities are a minority in this industry. We are actively trying to change that and are proud to say the Mediavine team is 60% female, 30% people of color and representative of LGTBQIA+.
Why did your business want to support the Collective and its work?
It’s not just the advertising industry we’d like to see reflect diversity, equity and inclusion, it’s all industries. These are important ideals to our core and are expressed at every level of work we do, from our internal hiring policies to the organizations and events we support with our sponsorship dollars.
While we have a wide variety of content creators, we began our ad management adventures in the food community, therefore it’s where many of our roots are. Supporting the food and wellness communities in their work for equity across the industry is a worthwhile endeavor that we’re excited to be part of.
